An extraordinary cast takes us into a story of fine and powerful human tensions, chiseled by a direction, a screenplay and a photography that fluidly lead us into an immersive reality, constantly moving us. Valentina shows a provincial reality as a place that is yes asphyxiated and violent, but also capable of solidarity and alliances, starting with the school, teachers and classmates. Valentina also tells us about a mother-daughter relationship that is authentic and sweet, supportive and listening: an exemplary reality of how one can break the chain of violence derived from the nuclear non-acceptance of one's own identity originality. Transsexuality becomes again a metaphor for adolescence as a whole and our urgent need to become ourselves."
